Thousand-flower honey does not come from a single specific area, but can be produced in different geographical zones, such as mountains, hills or plains, where flowers of various species grow. Precisely because of this floral diversity, honey can take on particular characteristics in terms of taste, aroma and beneficial properties, which vary depending on the type of nectar collected by the bees. Despite this variety, thousand-flower honey can be divided into two large categories based on the collection period:

  • Light thousand-flower honey: of a lighter and more transparent color, it has a sweet, delicate and less marked taste. It tends to crystallize after a few months and is produced mainly in spring.

  • Dark thousand-flower: of a more intense shade, from brown to amber, it has a more decisive flavour, often with a bitter note reminiscent of honeydew or chestnut honey.

Honey is naturally rich in mineral salts and antioxidants, especially in darker varieties. It is effective in treating flu symptoms, helps calm coughs and has antibacterial properties. Thanks to its high energy concentration, it is recommended for athletes, children, pregnant women, the elderly and people in recovery. Some research suggests that multi-flower honey can also help reduce the symptoms of seasonal allergies: regular intake of small quantities has led to an improvement in the body’s response.

It is also beneficial for the digestive system, as it can help regulate the intestines, combat constipation, balance the bacterial flora and promote better absorption of nutrients. It is also used for its purifying properties on the liver and to support good blood circulation.

From a nutritional point of view, thousand-flower honey is more complete than honey obtained from a single floral variety, since it contains pollen from multiple flower species.
