Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP is a cured charcuterie product, obtained from the processing of fresh legs of heavy Italian pigs, born, reared and slaughtered in 10 regions of central-northern Italy.
Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP has a typical “guitar” shape and is equipped with a foot. When cut, the slice has a uniform red-pink color, with white streaks of fat.
The aroma is intense, the taste sweet and delicate. The aroma is delicate and becomes more persistent as it matures, you can recognize toasted nuances (bread crust), notes of dried fruit and barley malt. The flavor is delicate, the flavor and aromas typical of seasoned meat blend together, producing a pleasant and satisfying sensation in the mouth.
It is considered the starter par excellence: alone or accompanied with pulpy fruit such as melons, pears, grapes, figs, pineapples. Also ideal for filling sandwiches and focaccia. Irreplaceable ingredient for many gastronomic preparations: first and second courses, simple side dishes and tasty sauces. It goes preferably with a dry white wine.
