Emidio Pepe’s Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a veritable monument to Italian viticulture, one of those reds capable of defying time by establishing a dialectical relationship.

Really a bottle that needs no introduction this Montepulciano produced by one of the most famous and respected wineries in Italy, which has always been part of the small circle of our favorite wines.

How to describe it in words?

The possibility of drinking different vintages of Emidio’s wines vertically makes them fully grasp the greatness and the immense evolutionary potential, reserved only for the best reds in the world. Here in Torano Nuovo, in the Teramo area, the idea of producing quality wines that faithfully reflect the vintage and the territory has become something greater, something capable of filling the hearts of enthusiasts. Legendary.

Pepe Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is produced with pure grapes of the vine of the same name, coming from 30-year-old vines that rest on clayey and medium-textured soil. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic agriculture are scrupulously followed, integrating them with some biodynamic practices, although the idea of grapes and healthy land was already inherent in Emidio’s mentality. In the cellar we continue with manual destemming of the bunches and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in vitrified cement tanks, followed by bottling and decanting by hand without filtration. The liquid ages 24 months in concrete containers.

Montepulciano Pepe wine is presented in the glass with the typical intense ruby color and not very penetrating. Nose of great complexity, capable of evolving in an impressive way with the passage of time, so much so that if as a young man it squares vinous and fresh fruit references, it subsequently enriches its profile with references to graphite, earth and undergrowth. Compact and austere sip, always driven by a beautiful acidity and a vital and sculpted tannin.

Immortal.
